Welcome to SpendNestly ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and backend services (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using SpendNestly, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the application.

1. Information We Collect

To provide expense splitting, financial management, group management, and related features, we may collect the following types of information:

• Personal Information: Name, email address, date of birth, and profile picture when you create an account or choose to sign in using Google or Apple.
• Financial & Transaction Data: Information you enter into the app, including expenses, income, amounts, currencies, group names, friends, balances, settlements, notes, and payment method designations such as Cash or Card.
• Device & Usage Data: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens, IP addresses for security and rate-limiting purposes, device information, application information, crash or diagnostic information where applicable, and general usage information necessary to operate and improve the Service.
• Camera & Photo Library Access: With your permission, SpendNestly may access your camera or photo library when you choose to scan receipts, upload a profile picture, upload a group picture, submit feedback, or use another feature that requires image access.
• Subscription Information: We may collect and store subscription-related information such as your subscription plan, subscription status, purchase status, entitlement status, renewal status, and subscription dates. Payment card numbers, bank account information, and other raw payment credentials are handled by Google Play Billing / Apple App Store and are not stored directly on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create, manage, authenticate, and secure your SpendNestly account.
• To facilitate expense splitting, calculate balances, manage groups and friends, maintain expense records and ledgers, and support settlements between users.
• When you choose to scan a receipt, the receipt image may be processed using AI-powered services (Google Gemini API) to extract relevant information such as merchant name, date, amounts, taxes, and other expense-related data.
• To send account-related notifications, OTPs, expense updates, payment reminders, group invitations, settlement notifications, and subscription-related alerts.
• To verify your premium subscription entitlement and provide access to applicable Pro features.
• To maintain Service security, prevent fraud and abuse, troubleshoot technical problems, provide customer support, and improve SpendNestly performance.

3. Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data. We may share or transmit limited information with trusted third-party service providers when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or provide specific features of the Service:

• Google Play Billing: Subscription purchases and billing are processed securely through Google Play. We do not store raw credit/debit card numbers or bank credentials on our servers.
• Google Gemini API: When you choose to scan a receipt, the image is securely processed to extract merchant and cost data.
• Firebase: Used for push notifications (FCM), authentication, and application infrastructure.
• Google and Apple Sign-In: Used to authenticate and secure your account credentials safely.

4. Data Storage and Security

SpendNestly uses industry-standard administrative, technical, and organizational security measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. All communication with our servers is encrypted using HTTPS and TLS protocols. We do not store passwords in plain text.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal, account, subscription, and transaction information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain account functionality, comply with legal obligations, and maintain financial calculations.

Certain shared group expense information is retained in an anonymized or non-identifying form after account deletion to preserve the balance integrity of other participants.

6. Account Deletion and User Rights

You have the full right to delete your account and personal data at any time:

• In-App Deletion: Navigate to Account ➔ Security & Danger Zone ➔ Delete Account within the SpendNestly application.
• Web / Email Request: You can submit a deletion request by visiting our Account Deletion Page or by emailing support@spendnestly.com.

Upon request, your personal profile data is removed immediately, and encrypted backup copies are purged within 30 days.

7. App Permissions

Camera and photo library permissions are requested strictly when you choose features that require them (receipt scanning or profile photos). Notification permissions are used to send settlement and expense alerts. You can revoke permissions at any time in device settings.

8. Children's Privacy

SpendNestly is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
